Italy – Ducks in Venetian Lagoons

 In Italy

September 17 – January 31

The best duck hunts in the world are organized in the Venetian valleys, rendered famous by Hemingway, where the lagoons are managed based on the needs of waterfowl, resulting in the highest density of ducks per hectare in the world.
Most of the valleys belong to private owners, where they hunt personally with their guests, but there is the possibility to rent some valleys, either daily or for the entire season. Hunts are organized only on Saturdays from the opening up until December, from dawn to 11 AM, while in January one can hunt on Wednesday and Saturdays. Places are assigned up front for the whole season. The hunt is organized from twin drums, using decoys, but without electronic calls, only mouth calls are allowed. Each post is fed daily throughout the season. Expected bag for two hunters varies from 30 – 150 birds
