Black Bear is the most widespread bear species in America. After coming out of winter hibernation by end of May their main interest is food. They are visiting well managed baits on regular basis all day long with higher intensity during afternoon till dusk: one to three bears on bait is a daily average. Bigger bears come out of dens by early June because winter in Newfoundland lasts long. They are slim after winter hibernation but their size is between 100 and 200 kg in average. The biggest bear recorded from that province had 416 kg. We hunt at the top of the Northern peninsula. Hunters arrive to Deer Lake by regular flights followed by road transfer to the hunting lodge in vicinity of Main Brook village. Accommodation is in a luxury lodge.
Hunt is from Monday to Saturday. No hunting on Sunday by law. Hunt is conducted by waiting from tree stands or ground blinds 20 – 50 m from the bait.
